I did not climb Mt. Everest today. Nor did I jump from an airplane, or sing at Carnegie Hall. In fact, I do not have a Bucket List, and I probably never will. Unless, of course, I go to the creek to hunt for rocks, with my bucket. Then, I might have a bucket list.
Flat rock, round rock, three-sided rock, a rock that looks like Winston Churchill, etc. etc. You get the picture.
Back to it. Today … I did not go cliff diving, or see the Sistine Chapel.
But. Here is what I DID do today.
1. I recently bought a sewing machine. I pulled it out of the box, and I taught myself how to use it. I have never used a sewing machine before in my entire life.
2. I hemmed a pair of pants on the said sewing machine. I have never hemmed a pair of pants in my entire life.
3. Most amazingly. I threaded the needle.
When I was done sewing, I was sweating profusely. I never sweat, even when I work out like a mad dog. Panic? Nervousness? Intensity? All over a stitch… in time…. which will save nine.
And then the excitement hit my brain. Oh the joy of it all. The jubilation. I sewed. I sewed, I sewed. You should have seen the Happy Dance in the kitchen. It was crazy feet. All over the place.
I scared the dogs…. I had such crazy feet. My sense of accomplishment went through the roof.
And when the party was over… and the dancing was done…
When the dust had cleared, and the dogs came back out from underneath the Dining Room table…. I looked at the fruits of my labor.
Uhnnnn…. I have a long way to go. I guess I reap what I sew.
Indeed, the party is over. Maybe that is why I was on pins and needles.
