We make connections.  All the time.  Whether we realize it or not.

Sometimes, they are amazing, wondrous, awesome connections.  Other times, they could go completely unnoticed by one, or many, of the entities involved.

A good friend reminded me this morning, that life would not be as sweet without our friends.  This is so very true.  I know this with all my heart.  But here is my sidewinder. Being on the tippy-end of the introvert scale, it is easy for me to be all by myself and be completely “content”… or so it would seem.

Yet, when I spend time with the people I love, I am so incredibly grateful for them, and for those moments of “now” which we have been afforded.  It awakens me. It fills my heart.

Our connections come in many different shapes and forms though.  But it goes way beyond our “obvious” human associations, if we let it.   We can connect on many different levels of energy, with many different things.

On the the physical possessions side, people have strong feelings about their homes, or their cars, clothes, boats, jewelry, or money, to name a few.  Some people think more about their “stuff” than anything else.  While we all apparently “own” certain things in life….  the fact of the matter is… nothing is permanent.  At any moment, it can all disappear.

Then there are the energy connections, which we make on a spiritual, emotional, or intellectual level.  This energy seems to be shared more among the things that are “living.”

(As I write this, I find contradiction of terms.  All matter is moving.  Everything is made up of tiny little atoms which are filled with movement and energy.  Yet, I cannot make the same type of energy connection with a tire iron, as I can with a person.)

So back to the heart connections.  The ones which come from our life force inside.  These can be completely overwhelming, astonishing, and spectacular.

And humans-interactions are the obvious. But these life interactions can happen with animals, and plants, and numerous other things in the natural world.  I have seen people transform when they walk into their beautiful gardens, or when they sit on the ground right next to their dogs.  I’ve seen when they lay on their backs and look to the stars…. or when they wade through a creek… and see all that is there.

And that is the thing.  The big thing.  To see all that is there.  In any moment, no matter where we are, or what is happening around us, we have the ability to see.  To experience.  To feel.

It takes an awareness.  An ability to be open to the connections which are crackling, and pounding, and whispering to us everywhere.

We can draw in this breath.  Right now.  It is all that we truly have.  To be awake in this very moment.  To take notice.  And see all that is there.

We cannot live only for ourselves. A thousand fibers connect us with our fellow men.  – Herman Melville

When people go within and connect with themselves, they realize they are connected to the universe and they are connected to all living things.
– Armand Dimele

We are all connected to everyone and everything in the universe. Therefore, everything one does as an individual affects the whole. All thoughts, words, images, prayers, blessings, and deeds are listened to by all that is.
