There is a lot going on in the world today. And, it seems that much of the news, on any given day, is fairly disparaging.
There were more than 120 gun violence incidents in Chicago, just over the weekend.
A NYPD Office was killed on duty, while sitting in a police car. An unprovoked attack.
Russians are hacking away. Lies, corruption, smoke and mirrors, everywhere we look in our government.
And we are on the verge of a nuclear war with North Korea.
Bad, bad news, and that is just the tip of the iceberg.
It seems a little out of control. Especially, out of our individual control. Sometimes, it makes us feel a little helpless.
And, in the big wide world of six billion people…. many believe that the only way to bring about a far-reaching transformation…. is to take some sort of extreme action.
But. The truth of the thing is…… we make an impact on our world every day. It is kind of like Jimmy Stewart in “It’s A Wonderful Life.” The impact that we have on the world is greater than we think.
More importantly… and the choices we make affect the whole big picture. One little trickle at a time.
It is our every day actions. They truly matter. We all have the capacity to change the world in small ways. And this can be for the bad, or for the good.
Have you ever smiled at someone, and gave them a compliment in earnest? They light up, even if in the slightest way. Or, have you ever snubbed someone, or acted rudely. You can immediately see there porcupine prickles go up when you do.
Yep. Everything we do and think, affects the people in our lives. And it goes on from there. Now that person is happy/mad/sad/glad because of something we did. And whatever their next reaction on this earth might be…. it will, in turn, affect others.
This ripples out, from person to person. And on and on. This effect is like the rolling stone gathering moss. It grows. And depending on where it started… it can be a tremendous source of happiness, or inspiration. Or, it could be negative, filled with pain, or anger, or anxiety.
It all starts somewhere, and branches out. Every word. Every action, thought, and emotion. It all has a jumping off place. So, we must understand that we have the ability to be that starting point. That place of origin.
However we choose to do it, our energy goes outward. And it will touch someone.
We have the power to make greatness in the world this way. We have the chance to build on love and kindness. And good.
If we will.

“To every thig there is a season,a time for every purpose under the sun.
A time to be born,
and a time to die.
A time to plant,
and a time to recap.
A time to weep,
and I time to laugh
A time to mourn,
and a time to dance.”
