Big World. Salamanders. Preachers. Trickers.

Who ever said… “It’s a small world?”  Pissshhhhaw, is what I say to that.  Sure, you bump in to Johnny McElroy, the kid who was in your Scout Troop in the 6th grade, while you are at a Trade Show in Poughkeepsie, New York.  That’s just weird.  But it does not make this a small world.

It is really large in fact. Earth’s equatorial diameter is 7,926 miles.  I bet you didn’t know that this planet bulges at the equator.  Like a belly.  From pole to pole, the diameter is 7,900 miles.  It weighs a lot too. Like…. 5.9736 × 10(24) kg

Any way.  Caboodles.  And with all that surface area… there is an awful lot happening each minute that we are completely unaware of.  Way across the world, and right next door, in Mrs. Everson’s kitchen.

Take for instance China.  There is more than pollution there.  Today, they found a Gargantuan Salamander.  Big-stinking salamander.  It’s 4.5 feet long and weighs 114 pounds.
Scientists are saying it is an endangered giant salamander believed to be some 200 years.  The discovered this thing in an old cave in a China.

“Because the species is critically endangered, scientists removed the ancient beast from its cave and moved it to a protective research facility.” (NY Post)

Now… if I were a 4.5 foot long salamander… I can’t think of much that might endanger me.  Perhaps a 2,000 pound turtle?

Apparently, the Force was with that Salamander.  And lately, it seems the Force is everywhere… with the new film and all.

In fact, there is a little church in Berlin, who is going to
celebrate Star Wars with Return of the Jedi-themed service.

Two trainee pastors have made links between the story and religious teachings.  If you aren’t busy… it is at the Zion Church in Berlin’s central Mitte district…. 10:00 a.m.

The trainee pastors (Ludwig and Garve) believe that there are parallels between the film and the Christmas story.  Leave it to a couple of rookies.

From TIME Magazine: ”In the decisive scene of Episode VI, Luke Skywalker is being persuaded to join the Emperor’s side – the evil side,” said Ludwig.  “Luke resists, with the words: I will never turn to the Dark Side.”
Ludwig believes this chimes with the Bible verse: “Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good.”

Since we are talking about good vs. evil…. the folks of South Jordan, Utah are doing their fair share.  The community has begun placing decoy packages on front porches in an effort to thwart holiday delivery thieves.  Smarties.

Rocks, old clothes and junk televisions are among items that residents have been putting in shipping boxes. People are also using surveillance video.

It can take just seconds for a thief to jump out of a car, grab a package and run.  So… those residents are giving back.

And just like that, around the globe, in just three little episodes.  Who knows what might be going right now, at this very moment, in Babbie, Alabama… population 603.

But where ever you are… and what ever you do… May The Force Be With You.  Yep.  In this big world of ours, sometimes you just have to stop and ask yourself… “What would Yoda do?”  I hope we can all stay away from the Dark Side.   And focus on the good force.  Kindness.  Happiness. Peace.

Salamanders for Peace.  German Preachers for Peace.  UPS Guys for Peace.  Just like Yoda would do.

“Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.”– Yoda

“Feel the force!”– Yoda

“Do or do not. There is no try.”– Yoda
