People can precipitate confusion in us. They have a different point of view, or idea. Perhaps they have “done” something. And we do not understand. It does not compute. Or their words do not make sense.
Sometimes this makes us afraid, or angry, sad, or disgusted. It could go a lot of ways really.
I am pretty sure humans are meant to be virtuous. I think our lives have purpose. It matters that we are here. The moment we are born, we are free to be amazing and loving people. All of us, the same.
The prevailing scientific model of the Universe states that we are all made of the same particles. That particular cosmic dust exploded into being some 13.8 billion years ago. Blam-o. And wouldn’t you know? That dust formed it all. Us included.
Here we are now, though. At any given moment, we can look up to the sky above. Its greatness. Its vast open space. And there it is. We see the exact same sun, and moon, and stars, as EVERY other person on this planet. And. We can try to jump off this big blue ball, but all of us are pulled right back to it by the identical bit of gravity. The same.
So what makes some of us stray from this human spirit of goodness, this integrity, and dignity? Why are there certain people who lose their common decency?
And what make others so pure in spirit? So high-minded and principled?
Perhaps we really aren’t supposed to know all the answers. In truth, we don’t know many. I mostly think we should just be patient with everything that is unknown to us. In our hearts. Maybe we should simply love the questions themselves. I mean. Do we really need the answers? And the whole big point is….. to live everything. Live the questions now. And the moments. Then perhaps, we will gradually understand all that we really need to know. And all that we do not.
