I’ve just stayed up all night trying to figure out where the sun went.
Then it dawned on me.
Actually, each and every day, I’m up far beyond the crack of dawn. By a few hours, at least.
But today. Once the day got here, that sun decided to shine here in Ohio. It was good and hot too. My perfect kind of weather that finds 90º and warmer. We had friends visiting all day, and we were in that good light the entire day.
That light. It takes eight minutes for light to reach Earth from the Sun. It is a long way from here, but light travels fast. And so did this day.
Yes. A day like today reminds me of so many good things to be thankful for. There were Preble Burgers at the Bistro to start off with, for lunch. Then that clear, hot weather. The kind of day where the winter coats hide deep in their closets, panicking. The great outdoors were glorious too. There were goats, and geese, and chickens, all wishing us well. In a big barn with a breeze blowing through. I am grateful for swimming pools and cool, clear water. I am even more thankful that I can swim and swim and swim. And more. Those Koi fish in the pond, making hypnotic circles in the water. Frogs on the rocks, watching. So much swimming. More food to eat. Pizza and Chocolate Chip Cookies. Great friends, I’m thankful for them. Dogs panting, keeping us company, no matter the heat.
Around every corner today, there was one thing more to be thankful for. I learned so much today. It was better than school.
Do you know why didn’t the sun go to school?
It already had a million degrees.
Oh, now I am at the close of this day, and it was filled with good fortune. And I am glad for all of this.
